commodeThis is absolutely unbelievable.  According to this article in The Sun, a British newspaper, Muslim prisoners are complaining about the direction the toilets face.  Aparently, there's a rule in Islam that they can't face toward Mecca or turn their backs to Mecca while relieving themselves.  The prisoners have been sitting on the toilets sideways in an effort to avoid breaking this rule.  Too bad these miscreants weren't so concerned about whatever law(s) they broke to find themselves locked up.

I can see it now.  Someone will draw a cartoon of Mohammad sitting sideways on a to ... Read More »

This FoxNews article talks about a "refrigerator sized" chunk of ice crushing a car in Florida.  Then, later in the article, the weight of the chunk is estimated at 50 pounds.  I've never seen a refrigerator that, even empty, would weigh a measly 50 pounds.  Even those small refrigerators that are often used in college dorm rooms weigh more than 50 pounds.  At least the one I had in my dorm room did.

This past Saturday was the Greenville hamfest.  It was a fun hamfest despite it's small size.  I got to meet WB4BYQ, whom I've spoken to on the air several times but never had the pleasure of meeting.  I also had an interesting conversation with KI4KQE regarding the war in Iraq and other topics.

Considering the size of the hamfest, we had a rather large turnout for the VE testing.  We had several testers, 8 of whom were taking element 3 in anticipation of the FCC dropping the Morse code requirement this coming February.  If memory serves, when all was ...

This is totally beyond reason and if it's not struck down in court the first time it's challenged then we, red-blooded Americans who love freedom and liberty, have lost.

Here's the text of the email I sent in to FoxNews speakout regarding the article.

If we allow the government to ban one word they don't like then we're allowing that same government to ban any other word or words they don't like.  Just because a word is offensive to more people than not doesn't make any difference.  There are people who are offended by just about everything.  Some politicians are offended if you talk about how they voted on various issues and make infe ... The Senate appears to have forgotten what The Constitution has to say about the President's authority concerning the military.  According to this FoxNews article, the newly Democrat controlled senate foreign relations comitte passed a "non-binding" resolution to "rebuke" the President's plan for a troop level surge in one final attempt to secure Bagdad before turning it over to the Iraqi government.  This resolution will now come up for a vote before the whole senate.

The Constitution is quite clear.  Article II, Section 2 of the U.S. Constitution says:

I personally agree with pretty MOST everything the President had to say.  Especially the request for congress to authorize increasing the size of the military.

I'm not sure how I feel about the idea of using the tax code to try and make private purchase of health insurance more attractive.  Dems will probably oppose it which is, in my opinion, a plus.  Just about anything the dems are against should be given some serious thought as possibly being a good idea.

I must say that I disagree with his call for a "comprehensive" imigration policy unless it includes, as it's first phase, securing our borders.  It's like a sinking ship.  You turn on the pumps to slow things down while you work to seal the leak.  I liken the illegals already here to bilge in the bottom of a sinking ship.  The level ... Scott Guthrie announced on his blog this afternoon that the final release build of ASP.Net AJAX has shipped.  I'm glad to see this.  I'm especially glad to see the calendar control in the toolkit.  It does something that I've been trying to find an easy way to do for a while.  That being have a asp.net control that works like the date/time picker in Windows Forms.  This thing is even niftier than the one in Windows Forms.  This control has prompted my boss to give me the go-ahead to start implementing ASP.Net AJAX on the proje ...
