Check out this article on FoxNews.com.  Here's the short version:  Eleven people were KILLED and over 100 wounded at a frelling kite flying festival in Pakistan.  What does that tell you about the people who live in that part of the world?  Especially when you note that some of the deaths and injuries were due to using sharpened wire and glass coated kite strings.  Others were killed or wounded by stray bullets, no doubt from idiots firing rifles into the air in celebration.  The remainder were of an accidental nature like falling off roofs or being electrocuted when their kites got tangled in power lines.  Turning kites into weapons by sharpening their strings is universally stupid.  It shows just how little regard for life these people ... I got this in an email.  It lays the illegal immigration issue out in plain English in terms that anyone can understand and no clear thinking American can logically argue with.

Recently large demonstrations have taken place across the country Protesting the fact that Congress is finally addressing the issue of Illegal immigration.

Certain people are angry that the US might protect its own borders, Might make it harder to sneak into this country and, once here, to stay Indefinitely.

Let me see if I correctly understand the thinking behind these Protests.

I'm getting more than a little tired of the open borders crowd calling those Americans who want our borders properly defended racist.  Sure, like in any group, there are racists among us and some racist groups such as the KKK have attached themselves to the anti-illegal-immigration band wagon in an attempt to give themselves legitimacy.  However, that doesn't remove any legitimacy from the movement.  It's quite simple.  A nation that doesn't protect it's borders isn't a nation for long.  The only reason the U.S. hasn't already been totally over-run with immigrants is because we have two oceans preventing many would-be immigrants from just walking here.

I find it rather interesting that many of the open-borders people are also big proponents of diversity and multiculturalism.  These people think that every culture on Earth is worthy of being ... Read More »

What do we pay our congress to do?  They're supposed to be up there making decisions.  Doing things.  Not making comments.  All this talk lately about non-binding resolutions is rediculous.  People like Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and Bill ORielly are paid to make comments.  Congress is paid to get things done.  I intend to write letters to congress and the whitehouse expressing my displeasure in the piss poor job they're doing.  Especially congress.  They're wasting my tax dollars debating wether or not to hold a vote on a friggin comment.  Can you tell I'm ticked off?

Police Light-Bar ImageWell, that might be a little bit extreme in this particular case. Here's the short version of the story. A Georgia couple, tired of people speeding past their house, spent $1,200.00 on a camera and radar system to catch the speeders. They caught a police officer speeding, alegedly 17mph over the limit. When they called local law enforcement they were informed that the officer they caught would be filing charges against them for stalking.

ARRL LogoThis article on the ARRL web site discusses several bills that are in the works in several states.  Some states even have more than one bill.  These bills pose a danger to mobile amateur radio use.  This is a topic that all amateurs should watch, even those in states without such bills in their respective legislatures.  It's not uncommon for states to copy each others laws.  I'm calling on all amateurs in the effected states to write their legislators and try to get language added to the bills specifically exempting amateur radio.
