Open Source and Voting Machines I really don’t understand what the big deal is with electronic voting machines. In Alabama we’ve had a form of electronic voting machine for years. We go into the polling place, show our ID, the poll worker marks us off a list of registered voters and gives us a ballot. The ballot consists of a sheet of card-stock with candidates listed and, if any initiatives are up for vote, initiatives. Beside each voting option, is an arrow with a blank area between the point (which points to the choice. To mark a vote, just complete the arrow that points to our choice with a provided felt tip pen. Scott Hanselman's Computer Zen - jQuery to ship with ASP.NET MVC and Visual Studio This is a cool thing. It’s nice to see MSFT embracing open source projects. It’ll be shipped and supported under jQuery’s existing MIT open source license. MSFT will submit bug fixes via jQuery’s existing bug reporting solution and any patches submitted by MSFT will go through the same quality checks that those coming from anyone else. Most cool. -- Bryan Johns K4GDW "The Key, the whole Key, and nothing but the Key... so help me Codd" Read The Patriot It's Right -- It's Free http://PatriotPost.US/subs ...

FOXNews.com - Severed Foot Believed to Belong to Child Actually From Baby Bear - Local News | News Articles | National News | US News How in the world can a bear paw be mistaken for the foot of a human child? Makes no sense to me. I can imagine the conversation among the people who saw the dog drag up the “foot”. It probable went something like this: Billy-Bob: Hey Bobby Joe, what’s that dog got in his mouth? Bobby-Joe: I dunno… here, hold my beer so I can check it out… Lord almighty! It’s a foot! Call the sheriff.

McCain Suspends Campaign to Help With Bailout - America’s Election HQ I’m not certain of the wisdom of this move. Politically speaking, it would likely have been better if McCain had pushed ahead and not suspended his campaign. Then, a couple of minutes ago I heard on Sean Hannity’s show that the Obama campaign has decided not to participate. In other words, Obama will continue to campaign while McCain is off the trail. Hope this pays good dividends as far as getting McCain/Palin elected in November. It might serve to show the American voters just which candidate is serious about the economy. -- Bryan Johns K4GDW &a ...

FOXNews.com - Russia Sends Warships to Caribbean, a First Since Cold War - International News | News of the World | Middle East News | Europe News I can’t help but wonder if our Navy is shadowing these Russian warships? Today I got my new keyboard. It's the daskeyboard professional (the one with labels on the keys). It worked right off the bat with no funky driver issues (unlike my old Microsoft Natural Keyboard which was only USB 1.1. The reason I replaced the keyboard was because it didn't really work reliably on Vista. The new one works wonderfully. I find myself typing much faster with the nice clicky mechanical key switches. It matches my computer better as well. The blue LED indicators for numlock, caps-lock and scroll-lock match the cool looking blue of the indicators on the front my my Dell XPS 420 desktop. If you like a good tactile keyboard, I highly recommend this keyboard or, if you're a good touch typist, it's blank keyed brother. I'm a fairly good typist but not good enough to use a blank keyboard. Anyway, you can find out more about these keyboards at http://ww ...
