FOXNews.com - Blind, Elderly Woman Threatened With Lien Over 1-Cent Bill - Local News | News Articles | National News | US News

I bet it cost the water company more to print and mail the letter than they would collect.  I’d arrange to take the bill and 1 penny to their office and pay it just so I could give them a piece of my mind.  Either that or I’d try and find a way to make the bill cost them as much as possible.  Most such bills come with postage-paid return envelopes.  Perhaps she could put a penny into the envelope, to make it weigh more and mail it back to them.

I have a couple of things… When I got to work this morning, I got an email indicating that a fellow employee had passed away while I was out.  Please keep the family in your prayers.

Also, I don’t often request prayers for myself, but here goes.  Yesterday I was referred to an oral surgeon in Birmingham, AL regarding a sore on the right side of my tongue.  Both the doc in Birmingham and the referring doc think it’s cancer.  We’re just waiting on the results of a biopsy taken this past Friday.  Please include me in your prayers that the biopsy will come back negative, or if not, that the tumor is still small enough and hasn’t spread so that perhaps my tongue wont need to be completely removed.

UPDATE 11/19/2008:  Today I got the results back on the biopsy.  It’s positive for “squamous cell carci ... Read More »

FOXNews.com - Portable Nuclear 'Hot Tubs' Could Power America - Science News | Science & Technology | Technology News

I’ve often thought that if they can make nuclear reactors for satellites that can survive re-entry why couldn’t they make them to power cars.  If the reactor can survive re-entry it can most certainly handle the worst accident  our highways have to offer.  This looks to be a step in the right direction.  Neighborhoods can go together to purchase a reactor to bury in a central location to power all the houses for several years.

How can the California Supreme Court overturn a friggin constitutional amendment?  The court doesn’t regulate what goes into the constitution, it enforces what is already there!

…gay rights activists acknowledge that their only hope of getting Prop 8 repealed lies with the California Supreme Court, which will consider at least three lawsuits seeking to keep gay marriage legal in the state.

I don’t know about you, but I’m a little suspicious of this:

Just as Secretary of State Mark Ritchie was explaining to reporters the recount process in one of the narrowest elections in Minnesota history, an aide rushed in with news: Pine County's Partridge Township had revised its vote total upward -- another 100 votes for Democratic candidate Al Franken, putting him within .011 percentage points of Republican U.S. Sen. Norm Coleman.

The reason for the change? Exhausted county officials had accidentally entered 24 for Franken instead of 124 when the county's final votes were tallied at 5:25 Wednesday morning.

Franken's deficit: 239 votes

Were I a citizen of Minnesota I’d be very loudly demanding proof of this alleged case of fat fingering the vote ... Read More »
